Marisa has an honours degree (cum laude) in Social Anthropology. She started her career in filmmaking as a researcher in the mid 2000’s, and has worked as a documentary director in South Africa, Indonesia, Malaysia and West Africa. Marisa has directed reality TV and has an annual commitment to produce, direct and edit ten short films for the Inyathelo Philanthropy Awards, featuring remarkable South Africans who have made a significant contribution towards social development in South Africa. A keen animal lover, Marisa fondly recalls filming wild Orangutans and Pygmy Elephants in Borneo and being filled with a sense of purpose and indignation whilst reporting on the illegal pet trade and canned lion hunting in South Africa. Marisa is also a seasoned editor.
